In preparation for the meeting of the sixth session of the Follow-up Committee of the Agreement to be held tomorrow, September 2nd in Bamako, the Special Representative of the European Union for the Sahel, Ms. Emanuela del Rey, held several meetings at the headquarters of the European Union delegation in Bamako with representatives of the CMA and representatives of the Platform Movements.
The discussions focused on the process of implementing the peace and reconciliation agreement resulting from the Algiers process.
A delegation from the platform was also received by Ms. Emanuela del Rey, EU Special Representative for the Sahel and EU Ambassador H.E. Bart Overy.
The platform delegation consisted of Mr. Fahad Ag Al Mahmoud and Moussa Ag acharatoumane
Exchanges between the EU Special Representative and platform leaders focused on the peace process in Mali and the CSA meeting to be held on September 2, 2022.
Platform requested the accompaniment of Mali’s partners so that the decisions taken during the meeting of the agreement’s follow-up committee are carried out into concrete actions on the ground.
They confirmed the crisis in the Gao and Menaka regions, which has caused the deaths of several hundred innocent civilians.
Platform representatives denounced the silence about these massacres.
They called on the delegate to help accompany the country by working in various fields, especially the humanitarian aspect, in light of the current crisis.
Finally, the officials reiterated their readiness to support the peace process and the ongoing political and security projects.

On the agenda of the discussions are the peace and reconciliation agreement resulting from the Algiers process and the insecurity and political development in Mali.
