According to the monthly bulletin of the Burkinabe army published on Friday, at least 50 “terrorists” were neutralized on 25 July in response to an attempted attack on a military detachment in Kelbo (Sahel), specifying that pickups and thirty motorcycles and large quantities of weapons were found. weapons.
The document also indicates that in the aftermath of the current August 4 ambush, a unit of a military detachment in Borzinga (northern center) responded and was able to neutralize at least 34 “terrorists” and restore their logistics.
During this operation, four soldiers and nine lieutenants of the Burkina Faso army were killed, the army also expressed its regret.
The Burkina Faso army said that the rapid contribution of the French partner allowed the diligent evacuation of the wounded to health centers.
She added that on August 8, 2022, “terrorists” attacked the town of Sima in the municipality of Signija (north), which led to the death of five army aides and five civilians, and caused a wave of population displacement.

Other targeting operations carried out in the North, East, Middle East, Sahel, Boucles-de-Mohun, and Central-West regions led to the neutralization of about thirty “terrorists”, and the destruction of logistic bases, including the tanker, which was recently removed in the Nona region, and the arrest of several informants and terrorist logisticians, “according to the document.
In general, the military noted that during the period from July 15 to August 15, 2022, compared to last month, a decrease in the number of terrorist incidents as well as a decrease in the number of civilian casualties.
She indicated that improving the targeting and intervention capabilities of the defense and security forces has allowed the start of the process of regaining control over certain key axes.
The army confirmed that it has observed a gradual return of the population in certain areas such as Nagari, Tio and Setenga (the coast), but has also noted the departure of residents for security reasons in areas such as Buraso or Namisegima (Northwest)
Since 2015, Burkina Faso has been plagued by terrorist attacks that have claimed many victims and over 1.9 million internally displaced people.
