A significant outage affecting Cloudflare, the provider of internet security and traffic protection services, has disrupted access to several major websites worldwide this Tuesday, including the social network X and the artificial intelligence platform ChatGPT.
According to Downdetector, a website that tracks outages in real time, more than 1,500 users reported issues with X around midday. Users complained about being unable to reload pages, perform searches, or use basic features of the social platform.
The disruption is linked to an issue within Cloudflare’s systems, which confirmed that it is “aware and investigating a problem potentially impacting multiple customers.” The company also noted that many affected websites are displaying “Error 500” messages.
“We are working to fully understand the impact of this outage and resolve the issue,” Cloudflare stated in a message posted on its status page, adding that more details would be shared as they became available.
ChatGPT, the widely used AI assistant developed by OpenAI, is also among the services affected by the outage, leaving many users unable to access it since this morning.
Cloudflare’s technical teams are actively working to restore functionality. Meanwhile, thousands of users of X, ChatGPT, and other impacted platforms continue to face access issues.
