The Azawadian Army carried out two intense attacks on April 7, 2026, targeting Malian forces and their Russian Africa Corps allies across several areas in the Kidal region.
In the first operation, an armored vehicle belonging to Malian forces and their partners was targeted in the Tewraghine area, about 35 km south of Kidal, causing significant material damage and reported casualties according to initial information.
In a second attack, two drone strikes targeted positions of the Malian occupation forces and Russian mercenaries from the Africa Corps in the city of Aguelhok on the evening of April 7, 2026. The Azawadian Army stated that these strikes caused significant human and material losses.
Following these announcements, the Azawadian Army released a video showing, according to its claims, the consequences of the operations, including killed soldiers, destroyed equipment, and losses on the ground.
These attacks come less than 24 hours after the celebrations marking the 14th anniversary of the declaration of Azawad’s independence on April 6, which were held in several locations, including Tinzawatene, parts of Kidal and Timbuktu, as well as abroad.
These latest operations take place amid a sharp escalation of tensions in Azawad, where clashes have intensified in recent months.
